Furthering my research, I decided to concentrate on the specific education issues facing Syrian refugee children in Jordan and I discovered that there are currently approximately 40% of child refugees not receiving an education (International Peace Institute, 2015). This is an issue that affects humanity greatly as children who grow up without an education, lack the basic ability to function as a contributing member of society.

This video investigates why children are not able to access the education they need in Jordan, factors such as children’s work commitments to support the family and certification and documentary requirements that are creating addition barriers for families who want their children to receive an education.

It is of utmost importance to ameliorate the education crisis in Jordan in order to “reduce risks of early marriage and military recruitment of Syrian children, stabilise economic futures by increasing earning potential, and ensure that today’s young Syrians will be better equipped to confront their uncertain futures.” (Human Rights Watch, 2016)
