My Transformation

What a journey I've been on! I have found the last unit in my undergraduate degree at university one of the most inspiring units I have had the pleasure of completing. It has really allowed me to explore my own interests as a teacher while keeping me suspended in the liminal space for the majority of the time. My three transformations during this unit (and it was hard to narrow it down to three) came from being in the liminal space, developing the future learning space and the true realisation that my learning is an ever-growing, ever-changing process.
The Liminal space:
I first found it hard to get my head around this space but once I recognised I was in it during AT2, ventured through that tunnel and came out at the end to see the light I definitely understood it and was itching to be back in that space. Surely enough AT3 came along and I found myself right back in the thick of the liminal space. I have had a lot of anxiety about being in the unknown but I'm learning to embrace it and I now know it is a necessary and very beneficial component of education.
The Furture Learning Space:
I am quite proud of what I've produced for AT3 and I would love the opportunity to implement it in a future classroom. I was ashamed that I didn't know the extent of what is going on with the Syrian refugee crisis in the middle east. Through doing this assignment, I have a newfound empathy and respect for the people who are going through this horrible predicament they find themselves in which is at no fault of their own. I would really like to assist with thei educational crisis in Jordan too and give Syrian children a reason to go to school again. Help them find their motivation to strive for an education, even in their situation.
Forever Learning:
I had heard the phrase "you learn something new everyday" before and I did feel there was some truth to it but through this unit, I have realised that you really never stop learning. As teachers, I feel we have the best opportunity to be life learners and at the end of my undergraduate degree, I look forward to a whole new chapter of learning! I think it will be a fundamental part of my teaching philosophy that education is forever and hopefully, I will inspire my students to always want to learn long after they have finished school.
All the best for the future Adam, Kayri and all the EDFD459 students.
Rachel
