Hi again and welcome back,
I've been working hard on my Future Learning Space and I can't wait to be able to share it with you. It's really starting to take shape. I thought I would share the rough outline of the lessons that I envision would take place in the learning space. Its not perfect or even finalised at this point but it shows where I'm heading with the content that will be taught in my future learning space. The extent of this may not be in the final Future Learning Space document, it will most likely be an overview of these lessons but I felt it was worth sharing my current thinking with how the lessons would run.
Lesson 1: Introduction to our world
Teachers connect to the Skype classroom so the classes can communicate then the following questions are asked:
where each class is in the world?
what the weather is like there?
how many people in your family?
what is your favourite place?
what times students go to school?
what students learn at school
what students like to do for fun?
how students get to school?
what are students favourite subjects at school?
Lesson 2: How do we learn? Multiple intelligences lesson
teachers explain to students the concept of multiple intelligences
students do a short survey on how they think they learn best
teachers partner students up based on their mi
students meet their partner and are given a google drive doc to share information
Lesson 3: Learning english — everyday words
teachers direct a lesson on simple vocabulary
Australian teacher says a word in english and the Za’atari teacher will translate it to english
both teachers write the words in both languages on the board
students repeat the words as they go
Lesson 4: repeat of lesson three, recapping on vocabulary words and then focusing on letter writing vocabulary
Lesson 5: Learning english — focussing on how we learn (Multiple intelligences)
Lesson 6: An introduction to letter writing
teachers explicitly teach students how to write a letter
students will write a letter on what their life is like to their partner
students also talk about how they like to learn in the letter
students share letters on the google drive
Lesson 7: Introduction to collaborative assignment
students are given the task to collaborate with their partner in making a project based on their mi and one of the given three topics
topics: what I like to do for fun, my family, what it means to be a friend,
students are encouraged to pick their own way to present the project eg a song for musical learners, a poster or video for visual learners, a filmed performance for kinaesthetic learners
Lesson 8: Touching base on assignment progress
Teachers direct a class discussion on students assignments, whats working well, any problems that need to be addressed, who’s doing what for the assignment.
Lesson 9 (final lesson)
students present work to the class
teachers give feedback
